Capitalists Anonymous

12 Traditions

  1. The personal is the political; C.A. recognises our common responsibility to the planet and the right to water, food and shelter for all its inhabitants.
  2. For group purpose there is no ultimate authority—our community expresses itself in our group conscience; we do not govern.
  3. The only requirement for C.A. membership is a desire to stop consuming unconsciously.
  4. Each group should be autonomous.
  5. Each group has but one primary purpose – to carry its message to the capitalist who still suffers.
  6. The C.A. group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the C.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest the problems of money, property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.
  7. Every C.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
  8. Capitalists Anonymous should remain forever nonprofessional.
  9. C.A., as such, should be self-organised.
  10. Capitalists Anonymous helps individuals to come to terms with their capitalist tendencies while also recognising the effects of capitalism on the human and environmental rights of all the tenants of this planet; we are actively drawn into public debate on this subject.
  11. Our public relations policy is based on promotion; although we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.
  12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities (except when the personalities can help our cause).
